‘In my culture, food is love’ …….these are the words that inspired the creation of a recipe book, reflecting the stories of migration for those who have made Muswellbrook home, bringing their culture, food and recipes with them.
With support from AGL and Muswellbrook Shire Council, ‘Flavours & Voices of Muswellbrook’ will be curated by Arts Upper Hunter under the guidance of Muswellbrook’s multicultural group, MultiConnect.
Calls for recipes and stories of migration to Muswellbrook are now being invited, participants who would like to contribute to this delicious community project are warmly invited to contact Marina on 0428 289 383 marinalw@artsupperhunter.com or Heather on 0438 405 925.
You don’t have to be a great cook, but everyone holds a great recipe in their family! Whether pickling vegetables, making a curry or a delicious desert in India, Egypt or your country by all different methods we would love to add your recipe.
There will be additional activities taking place throughout the year, the gathering of stories and oral histories, cooking demonstrations, food tastings culminating in a photographic exhibition at the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre in 2027.
The jewel in the crown for this project will be the production of a beautifully curated cook book celebrating multi cultural Muswellbrook and acknowledging the diversity and richness of the many cultures who call Muswellbrook home and make it a vibrant and exciting place to live.
